New imprint: Coln. Out now: Aline Roux, Chantiers
COLN001. A second label for ambient and downtempo records, starting with an album of shipyard cranes.
Mark Neilson / 17 June 2022
Coln is a new imprint for ambient and downtempo records. It begins today with COLN001, Aline Roux's "Chantiers".
The album does not fit on GLB. There is no kick drum for long stretches, and it is made from recordings of the old shipyard cranes on the Île de Nantes and a borrowed Serge system. Tom Ashby and I played it in the office for forty minutes and neither of us spoke.
Coln has no schedule and will release when there is something to release. It is named after a river I used to fish. It will not make money, and mail orders go out on Fridays with everything else.
