- Single-room club built around long DJ residencies
Phonox opened in September 2015 in the building that had been Plan B, which closed that June, two minutes from Brixton station. Sources give the capacity as 450 or 550, and the room feels like it. There is one dancefloor and a Funktion-One system. Its real idea is the format. Each month one DJ takes the Fridays, under the name 4 Fridays at Phonox, programming four nights with invited guests. Jasper James opened the place with the first residency, and Denis Sulta has the December 2026 run. It gives a selector room to develop over a month and gives regulars a reason to come back and compare notes, which you do not get from a touring headliner playing an airport set. Saturdays go to all-night sets and label parties, with some day parties from 16:00. It is a modern London club run by people who understand that small rooms are where DJs actually learn things. It is also round the corner from the Victoria line, which helps.
