Blitz took the former congress hall of the Deutsches Museum, completed in 1935, which had housed a concert hall and planetarium until 1985, then an IMAX cinema, then nothing for seven years. It opened on 22 April 2017 and about 1,500 people turned up to a room licensed for far fewer, so the fire brigade and police came too. Sources give the capacity as 600 or 800. What made it worth the trip was the build. It was a room within a room, with beech panels shaped for the acoustics and a custom four-point VOID system, a tower in each corner, plus ceiling-mounted tweeters known as the Blitz horn. Few clubs have had that much thought put into how a kick drum behaves. In February 2026 it said it would leave. The museum cited renovation works and the operators said no long-term extension was offered. The final weekend ran from 31 July to 3 August 2026, with the lease ending in September. The operators say they are looking for a new site in Munich.
