World Club Dome

BigCityBeats has run this since 2013 at the Frankfurt football stadium, formerly the Commerzbank Arena, now Deutsche Bank Park, with stages inside the bowl and around the grounds. The billing is the World's Biggest Club, and at 180,000 people from 70 nations over three days in 2019, with about 25 stages, nobody bothers to argue. The 2018 edition counted 160,000. The 2020 and 2021 events fell to the pandemic, and it returned afterwards with spin-offs elsewhere, including winter and Las Vegas editions. BigCityBeats is the producer and its main sales pitch is spectacle. Sven Väth has shared bills here with Armin van Buuren and Steve Aoki, which is a fair summary of how wide the net is. For anyone interested in deep house this is a curiosity. It is on the list because Frankfurt was central to German techno from the start, and because a stadium full of people dancing for three days is hard to leave out of a survey of the European calendar.
