- House and techno in a former shipyard
DGTL has taken over the NDSM wharf every Easter weekend since 2013. It is a former shipyard in Amsterdam-Noord, on the north bank of the IJ, and the industrial surroundings do a lot of the design work. It holds 20,000 a day. The festival's other subject is itself. It has spent years trying to become circular and climate neutral, with plant-based catering, a pilot sanitation system that turns urine into grey water and waste into compost, energy-neutral bars and lights on show days, and full-time staff working solely on sustainability. Marketing calls it the world's first circular dance festival. Treat the word first with care, but the work is real. It has also exported the brand to other cities. Musically it covers house and techno with a good eye for names slightly left of the obvious. Tickets for 2027 go on sale at the end of 2026. The official site has it from 26 to 28 March 2027, with Armand van Helden opening the Friday night.
